Fabritech kit
One thing I have to say before going through the list
is this...
If you call, ask for "Eric" 540-825-1544... He is the guy with the
information and truly a great guy to speak with...
My opinion of the kit at this point is as follows... It is engineered for
the off-roader, not the street cruiser... It is however fully streetable
kit... My hats off to these guys for turning out a well engineered kit
instead of what has been the typical "kit" of the past...
Everything is included minus axle unless noted below...
The cost at this point is $2200-2300 for the kits... At this point both are
the same price but expect the bigger kit to go up about $200+ bucks soon...
Labor for "Fabritech" to do the install for you will run around $800
bucks...
They re-drill the rear drums/rotors to match the front axle in house... (If
you buy the kit and want them to match you will need to do the same...)
Driveshaft Mods. are needed fro the newer style C-V-shaft... (It will need
to be swapped to the older style...) They recommend the two peice shafts be
replaced with a 1 peice shaft... Some vehicles will require the rear shaft
to be lengthened but the front will work other than stated above...
Brake lines are included in the kit...
The kit works on all models... He is unsure about the ZR2 at the moment but
feels 90% sure it will also work... (He is looking for a subject to try this
on at the moment, hint-hint...)
Labor for the typical Mechanic is scaled out at a 10 hr. job...
Canadians don't worry, they will sell/ship the kit to you also...
They do away with the ABS system... With anything over 33's it becomes an
issue to deal with anyway as was stated... It can be made to work but it
will take a lot of money and labor involved... (Simply remove the light bulb
as most do...)
A new crossmember is supplied with the kit to clear the shafts and set the
case where needed...
The kit components are strong enough to hold up to well past the dana60,
400+ h.p. creature you may be thinking of building...
As for the rear block issue... We discussed it in detail and he is wanting
to play around with "out of the box" springs to see what he can find that
may work... In the meantime you can simply do an add-a-leaf and shackles to
make up the difference where the block is removed... (Aka; 1.5 inches from
both...) Remember this guys, when/if the kit brings new rear springs with it
expect to see the price jump a few hundred bucks easily...
