Add-A-Leaf Install

Shackles are a great and cheap addition that does the same lift but without a harsher ride. If you do the shackles and find your truck bounces in the rear afterwards or has a loose feeling in the rear, you might want to look into a set of these. With the Torsion bars turned up this will even out the ride stiffness front to rear for a more equal ride front to rear. Cost for this addition is only a few bucks more than a shackle set so price is not much of an issue.

1. The actual parts that come in the kit.

2. Start by jacking the vehicle up and setting it
on jack stands. Next remove the wheels from each
side. Put a jack under the axle for support.

3. Start the removal by removing the U-Bolts from
one side of the axle. Continue on to the opposite side.

4. Continue onward to the front leaf spring bolt removal
on one side. Follow this by taking the lower shackle
bolt out. This should have the leaf spring disconnected
from the vehicle. Duplicate this step for the opposite side.

5. Once you have the springs off the vehicle. Be careful to
not mix the sides up. Use two C-Clamps or a vise to hold
the springs together. Remove the center bolt from the spring pack. This may entail some sort of holding device or grinding at worst. Once this is removed slowly loosen the clamps/vise.

6. Once the leafs are apart install the Add-A-Leaf between
two leafs (one longer, one shorter). Install the
appropriate size bolt. Slowly tighten the clamps/vise
until all of the slack is taken up. Install the nut and
Tighten. Trim the excess end off the bolt.

7. Once this is done, you only need to install the newly
arched leaf spring packs just as they were removed in
reverse order. Here are the actual results of the install.
