Now if I could just get rid of that classic Blazer/Jimmy hatch rattle.

I think I have this one taken care of.
1. Open the tailgate and hatch.
2. Remove the inner panel from the gate.
3. Loosen the latch mechanism hold down bolts on the gate.
4. Get inside with a screwdriver and the 10 mm socket.
>5. Close the gate. Close the hatch.
6. Using the screwdriver for leverage, put the screwdriver in the latch mechanism and pull it snugly shut.
7. Tighten down the latch.
8. Open the gate and hatch.
9. Reinstall the inner panel.
10. Go for a ride.
Listen to the exhaust, the stereo and all sorts of other sounds with no annoying hatch rattle!

Awesome!
I just went out and did it today and it works great! I was wrapping electric tape around the u bolt on the window but now it doesn't make a sound even without the tape. Thanks for the fix.

so this noise is it a rattle or a sqeak cause my truck makes both and they both seem to come from the same place... the passanger side rear. but the rattle only happens some of the time the sqeak happens every time the suspenion compresses which made me think it was from the suspension. but if its the hatch i guess that would make sense too.

I've gotten to the point that when someone rides with me and says "don't that squeeking in the back drive you nuts?" I reply with "what squeek?" :smt040

Rattle or squeak varies. It's generally the same cause. If it's really loose, it rattles and if it's making partial contact, it squeaks.

Im new to the site stumbled across, ive only had my blazer 15 months, i was rear ended and i had to change the tailgate and glass, the new glass sqeaks and chirps, i dont really understand on were to put the screwdriver the put leverage. The following qoute is from the first post-------1. Open the tailgate and hatch.2. Remove the inner panel from the gate.3. Loosen the latch mechanism hold down bolts on the gate.4. Get inside with a screwdriver and the 10 mm socket.5. Close the gate. Close the hatch.6. Using the screwdriver for leverage, put the screwdriver in the latch mechanism and pull it snugly shut.7. Tighten down the latch.8. Open the gate and hatch.9. Reinstall the inner panel. 10. Go for a ride. Listen to the exhaust, the stereo and all sorts of other sounds with no annoying hatch rattle!---------------if someone could maybe take a couple quik pictures so i could see what is being said :D :D
